Macán Clásico is an exemplary wine from the Sonsierra region of La Rioja, steeped in centuries of tradition, knowledge, and winemaking culture from the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria. It reveals the terroir’s freshness, fruitiness, liveliness, and delicateness, providing depth and complexity.

The grapes of a single variety (Tempranillo) come from plots of alkaline sandy-clay soils and were hand-picked in 12 kg crates.

The year 2018 was cool and damp, with mild winter temperatures and abundant precipitation, including six snowfalls during the first quarter, allowing the soil to accumulate significant water reserves. Budburst was 10 days late, with abundant rainfall and moderate temperatures continuing throughout spring. This resulted in a 2-week delay in ripening. Harvesting was normal, running from October 2 to 14, and it presents a more elegant and fluid profile, allowing for a more intense extraction. During aging, the impact of the new oak barrel was increased by 10%, aiming to give the wine greater depth and structure.
